Eye Care Technology

The Latest Eyecare Technology

At Louise Sloan Opticians we take pride in the exceptional service and care we provide for our patients.

Having the latest eye care technology is important to us, as it ensures that we can provide the best diagnostic eye care equipment for all our patients.

We have invested in some additional high-tech ophthalmic equipment so that we may continue to provide you with the highest standard of clinical care.

OCT Screening

Our OCT (Optical Coherence Tomographer) takes both a photograph and a 3D cross-sectional scan of the back of the eye simultaneously. By comparing these scans on each visit, we keep track of any changes over time. The OCT is an excellent way to screen for age-related macula degeneration, glaucoma, and other eye health conditions.

Optomap®

Optomap® is an advanced retinal imaging device. It creates an ultra-wide digital picture, which takes in over 80% of your retina’s surface area. This allows us to capture 5 times more retinal surface in a single image, compared to a standard retinal camera.

The Optomap®’s high-resolution image can expose a health problem before any other symptoms are apparent. The image is kept on file, so that comparisons may be made at the next eye exam.

icare Tonometer

We now use the icare tonometer to measure your eye pressure. And, this means no more puff of air – which we know is a welcome development for some! It takes just seconds for the icare to take 6 quick and accurate readings of the pressure inside your eye. There is no discomfort and no puff of air.

Increasing pressure can be a sign of glaucoma, which if it is not caught in time and left untreated, is the second most frequent cause of blindness.

Visioffice

We have a new piece of equipment called the Visioffice, which enables us to take highly accurate 3D digital measurements of all the physiological and behavioural parameters of the eye to offer bespoke personalised lenses to our patients. It enables us to take 11 personalised measurements for us to give to the lens manufacturer along with the patient's prescription as opposed to 2 measurements which are generally provided to the lens manufacturer.
